OUR MINISTRIES

One of the best ways to ‘Get Connected’ at The Door is to jump in and get involved. The Door exists as a local congregation to witness to the world the love of God as revealed in His Son Jesus Christ, our crucified, risen, exalted and soon-returning Savior and King. We seek to teach the Word of God and spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Our goal is the shaping and equipping of our church family so that disciples will be nourished and empowered to fulfill their God-ordained purpose. As members of the church, our desire is to bring glory to God through our public and private lives. We do this by rejoicing in Christ Jesus; increasing in the knowledge of God through the study and application of the scriptures; by growing in Godly character; by practicing Biblical fellowship; by serving one another with our spiritual gifts, our time and our money; by proclaiming the Gospel to El Paso and then to the ends of the earth.

Here are only a few of our many ministries featured—many more to come. Please check back often...

Spanish Ministry

Pastor Augie and Yvonne Herrera serve the Spanish Ministry at The Door.  Pastor Herrera also ministers to the congregation as a whole with a caring spirit and a unique ministry for God.  He organizes and ministers to our Thursday night Spanish service and is available to counsel in Spanish.  Every Sunday and Wednesday service is also translated in Spanish.  If you or someone you know needs to hear the gospel in Spanish, Pastor Augie urges you to come and invite someone.

Pastor Augie is available to answer questions or counsel in Spanish.

HOME GROUP BIBLE STUDIES:

Why attend a Bible Study?

As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another (Proverbs 27:17)

God never intended Christianity to be a “Me, God, and my Bible” lifestyle. The Bible teaches that we also need each other. When we gather together in homes around the city we are bringing a needed dimension to our church.

People use their gifts and talents to minister to one another.

God doesn’t expect pastors and teachers to do all the ministering. He has given each of us gifts and talents to encourage, teach and challenge one another. Small groups provide the perfect setting for Christians to minister one to another.     And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds (Hebrews 10:24).

Small group members encourage each other in their faith.

We strengthen each other’s faith. In his letter to the Romans, Paul taught us that when we see the faith in another believer, it encourages us in our own faith…. that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith (Romans 1:12).

Small group members encourage each other to grow.

People are likely to share personal insights and testimonies. When people share, other group members see new ways they can draw closer to God and new steps they can take with others.  Changing is hard. There is nothing like a word of encouragement when someone feels hopeless or discouraged. Group members support one another, both during meetings and outside them. We can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God (2 Cor1:4).

Group members hold each other accountable.

If someone announces he or she plans to work on making a change, other members of the group may ask how it went the next time they get together. This can be done in a friendly, informal way. Or group members may make a plan to be accountable to each other.

Members pray for one another.

God honors and answers prayer. When people become connected emotionally, they are more open to praying for one another. Often, group members exchange prayer requests or become prayer partners.

What about you? Will you become part of a home bible study this year? You have a lot to offer and receive when you become engaged in this ministry.
