Brought Near by the Blood of Christ

From time to time, I think about where I would be today if Jesus hadn't saved me.

Of course, none of us knows exactly.

But one thing I do know—it wouldn't be good.

My destiny in sin would have destroyed me, both here in this life and for eternity.

This Scripture perfectly describes the condition I was in before my conversion.

Scripture Focus

Ephesians 2:12 (AMP)

"...remember that at that time you were separated from Christ [excluded from any relationship with Him], alienated from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of promise [with no share in the sacred Messianic promise and without knowledge of God's agreements], having no hope [in His promise] and living in the world without God."

Oh yes!

What a perfect description of the condition I—and all of us—were in before Jesus.

Then...

The following verse sums up the miracle that took place when I repented of my sins and gave my life to Christ.

Scripture Focus

Ephesians 2:13

"But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ."

Once I was as far away as anyone could be.

But now...

I have been brought near.

It is something I do not deserve.

It is only because of God's great love and His willingness to sacrifice His life, shedding His blood for me—and for you.

Here we are today, having escaped the destiny our sin would have produced and enjoying the undeserved blessings of God in our lives.

How grateful I am.

I shudder to think where I would be today if Jesus hadn't saved me.

I like the old saying:

"My worst day as a Christian is so much better than my best day as a sinner."

Do we have difficult days?

Yes, of course we do.

But never forget where Jesus has brought you from.

Today's Challenge

Take a few moments today to reflect on where your life would be without Jesus Christ.

Then thank Him for His saving grace.

Remember that you were once far away, but through His sacrifice you have been brought near.

Let that truth fill your heart with gratitude, strengthen your faith, and deepen your appreciation for the new life you have been given in Christ.
