Thinking With the Mind of Christ

Are you thinking with the mind of Christ, and are you being spiritually minded with the challenges you’re facing right now?

That’s something to consider because we can very easily misfire when it comes to how we think about our problems.

How we think is going to determine our actions.

How we think can either get us into trouble or set us free.

Scripture Focus

Philippians 2:5

“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus…”

That’s quite a challenge, isn’t it?

How would Jesus think about and talk about your challenges?

What action would He take if faced with them?

We, as human beings, have one way of thinking. Jesus has another.

That is precisely what we need to try and assimilate to.

1 Corinthians 2:16

“For ‘who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?’ But we have the mind of Christ.”

You’ve been offended, burned, or maybe even ripped off.

There’s a financial need, perhaps even a crisis.

You’ve been struck with an unexpected setback or failure, or an unanticipated trauma has occurred.

All kinds of things fall into the mix, don’t they?

So then, how are you thinking?

Is it the mind of Christ, or is it the same old pattern of thinking that an unbeliever would run with?

Are you angry, upset, negatively obsessed with outcomes, or maybe even mad at God?

That is clearly not thinking with the mind of Christ.

So, how does Christ think?

On the cross, in the height of agony, having been unjustly accused and executed in the worst possible way between criminals, as though He were as guilty of crimes as they were, Jesus demonstrated how His mind expresses itself.

Even there, there was no bitterness.

Scripture Focus

Luke 23:32-34

“There were also two others, criminals, led with Him to be put to death. And when they had come to the place called Calvary, there they crucified Him, and the criminals, one on the right hand and the other on the left. Then Jesus said, ‘Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do…’”

We know exactly what we ought to do.

In the face of offense, we love, forgive, and move on with no bitterness.

In the face of need and want, failure and disappointment, we continue to believe and trust God. We strive for faith to remain in place and even grow unto great faith.

Having the mind of Christ means we actively transform our thoughts to align with Christ’s.

Romans 12:2

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

With the mind of Christ operating in us, we know exactly what to do.

Today’s Challenge

Consider how you are processing the challenges in your life right now.

Are you thinking with the mind of Christ?

Are your thoughts leading you toward forgiveness, faith, trust, and obedience?

Or are you falling back into old patterns of anger, bitterness, fear, and unbelief?

Allow God’s Word to renew your mind.

Think as Christ would think.

Respond as Christ would respond.

The question is: Is the mind of Christ in place so that you can process life correctly, make right decisions, and move forward in God’s perfect will?
