I WILL NOT BE AFRAID; FEAR DESTROYS FAITH

I will not be afraid; fear destroys faith, and we all have to combat fear.

Psalms 27:1

“The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”

Those are two rhetorical questions with only one answer, and the answer is that there is no one and nothing that we should fear as children of the living God!

God is on our side, and He is my source of strength.

We face many obstacles in our lives, and there is a lot out there to fear, be intimidated by, and be afraid of.

Mountains and giants loom in front of us, and sometimes the problems that we face seem insurmountable.

People don’t always acknowledge their fears…we all should.

There’s nothing wrong with recognizing we live in a very fearful and intimidating world.

The above Psalm is a recognition of our fears, and it provides the antidote for them.

“Whom shall I fear?…Of whom shall I be afraid?”

I would be afraid but for the strength that the Lord provides me.

1 John 4:4

“You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”

Knowing God, having a real living relationship with Him alleviates my fears, calms the storms that may come, and gives me the confidence I need going forward.

2 Timothy 1:7 (AMP)

“For God did not give us a spirit of timidity or cowardice or fear, but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of sound judgment and personal discipline [abilities that result in a calm, well-balanced mind and self-control].”

I’m going to embrace that truth and promise for myself, and so too should you.

My prayer:

“Lord, I acknowledge my fears, and I recognize that I need a source beyond myself to give me strength and confidence.

My confidence is in my relationship with You, Lord.

You are my source, You are my help in time of trouble, You calm the tumult that can occupy my space.

I call upon You, Lord…to help me, guide me, direct me in the way that I should go, and therefore I know Your protective grace covers me and keeps me safe.

Therefore, I’m giving all my fears to You…Replace them with Your power and love.”

1 Peter 5:7 (AMP)

“…casting all your cares [all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully].”
