Update from Pastor Stephens!

Updated: Mar 31, 2020

Brethren,

God is on the throne! We are living in very interesting times, but as the Scripture states, Hebrews 13:6 (NKJV) “So we may boldly say: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”

As I stated in my earlier letter, “as events change we will continue to update you”, so here’s the update… We are changing gears in accordance with world and local events, but we are not shifting our focus or vision!

We are going to be transitioning to online services effective immediately. We will be conducting our FULL SERVICE SCHEDULE, including regular services and Sunday School. We are challenging you to make a commitment to engage in this with a greater level of faithfulness than ever before. I challenge every household to adopt a schedule and pattern of involvement, gather your family an hour before the service for a time of prayer leading up to the start of the livestream service, worship with us as we worship, answer altar calls, the key is PARTICIPATE! Don’t use this time as a “vacation” from church or accountability, but use it as a time to get closer to Christ. Hebrews 10:25 (NKJV) “not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.”. Obviously we can’t physically be together in our services, but we CAN join together in action, spirit, and involvement. At the bottom of this letter you will see instructions on how to participate in our livestream services and events. Invite unsaved family and friends to livestream services, just like you would for regular services.

We are a church with enormous financial responsibility locally and around the world. We have missionaries and their families and churches that are dependent on the promise we gave them when we sent them out. We promised to support them without reservation to release them to fulfill their ministry. As you give, please consider the fact that you have brethren that you know personally, that are far from home, without the comforts and securities we take for granted. They need to know that the El Paso congregation HAS RISEN TO THE CHALLENGE as we always endeavor to do. Our missionaries and outreach churches are an extension of our faithfulness and giving, we cannot hold back during the time when they need us the most. There are full instructions for online giving below.

Now is not the time to hibernate or retreat, now is the time to move forward and win the world for Jesus Christ! El Paso, and the world, are ripe for revival! John 4:35-36 (NKJV) “Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest! And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together.”

What we are living through is unprecedented, but the promises of God are eternal and unchanging.  It is essential that we remain in contact with one another via phone, text, and through all other various platforms for communication. Please be mindful of the suggestions provided by the CDC and local representatives and keep fellowships small, groups of 10 or less.

God is good and we will get through this trial! To paraphrase a familiar passage from 2nd Timothy 1:12, “We know whom we have believed, and we are persuaded that He is able to keep what we have committed to Him until that Day.”

Yours Faithfully,

Pastor Stephens
