The Driving Force of Revival
The driving force of revival is the prayer meeting.
When the prayer meeting dies, revival dies.
You can pray anywhere, at any time—at home, at work, driving in your car, on your lunch hour, and many other places. All of that is good and beneficial.
However, there is no substitute for believers gathering together regularly for prayer.
The early church was birthed in a prayer meeting.
Scripture Focus
2 Chronicles 7:14-15
“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place.”
There is a dimension of supernatural power released when we gather together for prayer.
This passage points to where the prayer meeting should take place—“prayer made in this place.”
So pray at home or wherever you find opportunity on your own. But you must also make gathering together with other believers for corporate prayer a priority if you are going to be part of the driving force of revival.
Coming to prayer meeting also creates a forum to teach others to pray by virtue of our example.
I learned to pray by hearing Pastor Warner pray when I was a brand-new believer. Seeing and hearing him pray had a major impact on my life that is still resonating today.
The example of mature believers praying fervently and sincerely can leave a lasting impression and help shape the spiritual lives of those who are coming behind us.
Today’s Challenge
Make corporate prayer a priority.
Pray faithfully on your own, but also commit yourself to gathering with other believers for prayer. Revival is fueled by praying people, and the prayer meeting remains one of God’s greatest tools for strengthening His church and impacting future generations.
