The God Who Sees

God is intimately and closely involved in every one of your lives. He has complete oversight and knows more than you know about yourself, the current circumstances, and the future.

Our God is all-knowing and on top of all that, He loves and cares. He is dutifully guiding your life toward eternal glory.

For now, though, we are earthbound and we all have challenges to face, problems to overcome…so we need God’s continual help and guidance.

She was alone in the wilderness and pregnant, having been banished by her mistress. Not a good place to be 4,200 years ago. She’s been banished from all that was familiar to her, she has nowhere to go, and no future.

All she is looking forward to is probably perishing alone in the wilderness.

But is she really alone, is there not the Lord who sees and knows…of course, we know there is, and Hagar discovered that.

God met her in the wilderness, helped her, and gave her the guidance and direction that she needed, and so too will He do with you.

After the angel of the Lord spoke to Hagar, encouraged her, gave her the guidance that she needed, she understood God’s nature and character, and she declared:

Genesis 16:13

“Then she called the name of the LORD who spoke to her, You-Are-the-God-Who-Sees; for she said, ‘Have I also here seen Him who sees me?’”

I want you to think about that today in your situation, whatever problems, pressures, or stresses you may be facing, let us all declare what Hagar declared.

She got a revelation that profoundly affected her life and future, and so can you today.

He is the “God who sees…” and she also saw the Lord who saw her.

That is an important feature of the story.

He sees, but so too do we…we see Him, right now in all of His glory, care, love, and oversight of our lives.

So today is a day of revelation and encouragement because now you know and have been reminded that God is intimately and closely involved in every one of our lives.

Psalms 121:7–8

“The Lord will keep you from all harm—he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.”
