The View From Above: Thoughts to Help With Everyday Life

June 18, 2026

Pastor Paul Stephens

The Light of His Countenance

There is nothing better than being in a position for this to occur:

Scripture Focus

Psalm 4:6-8

”…Lord, lift up the light of Your countenance upon us. You have put gladness in my heart…I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; For You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.”

Yes, He does.

He absolutely does.

There is too much contained in those verses to fully unpack in a few moments, but all I can say is:

How good is our God!

He loves us. He wants to bless us. He looks upon us with favor and desires above all else to cover us with His grace—His wonderful, all-consuming grace.

Psalm 5:12

“For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; With favor You will surround him as with a shield.”

We are unworthy of all this.

What have we done to earn God’s unmerited favor?

Not much.

He created us. We wandered from Him. Yet He considered us valuable enough to redeem.

That is more than enough reason to be thankful.

Today, I am looking up.

I want this View From Above.

I am thanking God for His great love and favor that He so freely and generously shows to us.

There is nothing better than being in a position for that to occur.

God’s favor brings peace to our hearts, confidence in our steps, and assurance that we are safely held in His care.

Today’s Challenge

Take time today to thank God for His grace and favor.

Keep your heart right with Him. Prioritize obedience. Forgive freely. Love sincerely. Serve faithfully.

These are small responses to the overwhelming goodness that God continually pours into our lives.

Pause today and thank Him for His love, His protection, His peace, and His favor.

There is nothing better than living in the light of His countenance.
