The View From Above: Thoughts to Help With Everyday Life
August 6, 2026

Don’t Forget to Look Up!
You’ve heard the saying:
WHEN YOU HIT ROCK BOTTOM, THERE’S NOWHERE TO LOOK BUT UP!
It’s the latter part of that phrase I want to focus on.
You don’t have to hit rock bottom to look up.
Looking up is something we need to do every day.
This means capturing a View From Above for everyday life.
There’s more to life than the immediate circumstances surrounding us.
We need to faithfully carry out our responsibilities and live obediently in whatever circumstances we face.
We are all engaged in pursuing holiness and righteousness in our thoughts, words, and actions.
God is doing a work in each of our lives in order to glorify Himself and fulfill His will and purpose.
But in the midst of all this, we have problems.
We experience pressures.
We deal with stress.
That’s why we need to take time to look up to Jesus.
We need to get our perspective straightened out by embracing an eternal perspective on life.
This is what the Apostle Paul did while facing the challenges of his calling.
Scripture Focus
2 Corinthians 4:16–18
“Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.
For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory,
while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen.
For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.”
That may be the very View From Above you need right now.
It’s not escapism.
It’s a perspective that enables us to continue walking in obedience and faith despite whatever problems or challenges we face.
Scripture Focus
Colossians 3:2
“Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.”
And David wrote:
Scripture Focus
Psalm 5:3
“My voice You shall hear in the morning, O LORD; In the morning I will direct it to You, And I will look up.”
Make sure TODAY…you LOOK UP!
We can become so distracted by the pressures of life that we fail to do this often enough.
Take time to see and acknowledge Jesus in everything you do.
And don’t ever forget:
LOOK UP!
Today’s Challenge
Before allowing today’s responsibilities, problems, or pressures to dominate your thoughts, take time to look up.
Pray.
Open God’s Word.
Set your mind on things above.
Ask yourself whether you’re viewing today’s circumstances only through what you can presently see—or through the eternal perspective God provides.
Whatever today brings, don’t lose heart and don’t forget to LOOK UP!
