TODAY, LET’S EXAMINE THE WILL OF GOD IN SOME VERY PRACTICAL AREAS USING THE WORD OF GOD AS OUR GUIDE — Part 3

There are areas of God’s will for our lives that we don’t know.

They are held in our future yet to be discovered.

I’m not worried about that.

What I am concerned about and what we should be concerned about is the areas of God’s will that are already known.

Let’s start there…the rest will take care of itself over time as we do what we know to do now.

With many of the decisions and actions we take during the course of the day, we should always consider:

What does God want?

What would Jesus do?

What will glorify Him?

Does my speech and the words that I say comport with God’s will?

Am I treating people around me the way Jesus would?

Doing the will of God is a frame of mind.

It’s something we consider multiple times during the course of any given day.

Here are a few verses to consider, and you can measure whether you are doing God’s will in areas that are known.

1 Thessalonians 5:16–18

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

Very simple, isn’t it?

“Rejoice…pray…give thanks.”

Are we doing that…and are we doing it daily?

That is God’s will for each of us.

Romans 12:2

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

That should be a daily exercise.

That’s why I say, thinking about and doing the will of God is a frame of mind.

It’s something we think about, consider, and strive to “discern.”

What exactly is His will in this situation?

Micah 6:8

“He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”

The will of God is not just what we do or say…His will is reflected in the attitudes of our heart.

Do our attitudes, our inner thought life, reflect Christ’s virtue?

“…do justice…love kindness…walk humbly…”

That has to do with having a right heart…otherwise, we won’t reflect those attributes, at least not consistently.

Not only do we have to DO right, we have to BE right.

Those are just a very few examples of what the Bible says is God’s will.

That is our guide…the Word of God tells us what is right.

As you read the Bible, pray and seek advice when needed.

We can navigate life successfully, always walking on the narrow path of what is pleasing to Him and what reflects His will for our lives.
