What Are You DOING?

“DO all the good you can,

By all the means you can,

In all the ways you can,

In all the places you can,

At all the times you can,

To all the people you can,

As long as ever you can.”

I like that, it comes from John Wesley, the great and very effective 18th-century evangelist.

I think we would all do well to apply that to our lives.

So much of our lives are dominated by focusing only on ourselves and our own self-interest…Do that we must, but do you have room to focus on all the above?

We have all been called by God to ‘DO’…

1 John 3:22

“And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and DO those things that are pleasing in His sight.”

Colossians 3:23

“And whatever you do, DO it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men…”

Micah 6:8

“He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you but to DO justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?”

Ecclesiastes 9:10

“Whatever your hand finds to do, DO it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going.”

DO, DO, DO AND DO in the above vs’s…

Life is about a lot of DOING.

This is what defined Jesus’ ministry:

Acts 10:38

“…how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about DOING good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.”

So then, what are you DOING!

That’s something to consider because too much of what we’re doing is not edifying ourselves and those around us.

Are you ‘DOING’ doubt, fear, unbelief?…are you ‘doing’ unforgiveness and resentment?…Are you wasting too much time and not ‘doing’ as you should?

Take inventory today regarding what you are actually DOING and maybe make a list of the good things you can do now and today.

Let’s all follow Jesus’ example and go about DOING good.

That’s a choice you can make…Rid yourself of all the doing that is negative and stick to doing that glorifies God, helps all those around you, and results in edification for your own life.
