What a Day That Will Be

I thought of the old song, "What a Day That Will Be," this morning during prayer.

“What a day that will be,

When my Jesus I shall see,

And I look upon His face,

The One who saved me by His grace;

When He takes me by the hand,

And leads me through the Promised Land,

What a day, glorious day that will be!”

Do we ever have something to look forward to? It needs to be very real to us every day of our lives.

Struggles we face, trials we endure, and problems that seem insolvable are ever present.

But, oh listen! That glorious Day of the Lord is soon coming.

I can tackle my problems, face my trials, and carry any heavy burden that I may have to in this life because one day, my friend, Jesus is coming and taking us all home to be with Him for all of eternity.

That doesn't mean we have our head in the clouds and are being irresponsible with our responsibilities. It means we are more responsible and more diligent to be faithful in this life so that we can hear those words that Jesus longs to say to us:

"Well done, good and faithful servant."

The more we look for His soon coming, the more faithful we are, the more obedient, and the more willing to sacrifice.

Scripture Focus

Hebrews 10:25

"...not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching."

SO MUCH MORE!

That captures the position we should all be in.

The highest and greatest level of obedience is arrived at when we have our eyes on Jesus and are looking forward to that great approaching Day of the Lord!

Today's Challenge

Live today with eternity in view.

Let the promise of Christ's soon return inspire you to greater faithfulness, deeper obedience, and a greater willingness to sacrifice for His Kingdom.

As you look for His appearing, determine to encourage others, remain faithful to His church, and serve Him with all your heart so that one day you will hear those wonderful words:

"Well done, good and faithful servant."
