YOU NEED TO GET MAD AT THE DEVIL! — Part 1

My pastor, Pastor Harold Warner, has always said that his wife Mona has a favorite saying, and that is:

“You need to get mad at the devil!”

My wife Renee also has a favorite saying, and that is:

“You need to get over yourself!”

Both of these are so very true and are worth considering in this Thought From Above…or should I say, thought from two very wise pastors’ wives.

First, Mona.

That is absolutely right.

It’s called righteous anger.

The devil and his demons are seeking to do one thing, and that is to destroy the work of God in people’s lives.

That should make us righteously angry.

Remember what Jesus said:

John 10:10

“The thief (Satan) does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy…”

When we see his destructive work in people’s lives, people we know and care about…tearing apart marriages, driving people to suicide, wreaking havoc in our society…it’s time to get mad at the devil.

We don’t just get mad; we do something about it.

Our anger is not reckless…emotionally driven; we’re not breaking things and slamming doors.

We take action to limit and marginalize the damage he’s doing.

In prayer, by resisting his strategies and tactics that he uses to do harm.

I hate what the devil does with a righteous hatred.

Strong language?

YES!

But that is totally appropriate.

It bothers me, disturbs me, and makes me, to quote Mona, “mad.”

So what do we do?

We resist him, vociferously, strongly, and with all the might and power we can muster.

1 Peter 5:8–9

“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.

Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.”

People are suffering because of the activity of Satan, so we stay alert, we resist, and we pray.

We bombard heaven on behalf of those who Satan is seeking to destroy.

Matthew 11:12

“And from the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.”

The Kingdom of Heaven is under assault by spiritual forces willing and able to enact spiritual violence.

Well, we can do something about that.

We are not going to sit idly by and allow that to occur without resistance.

The devil has power; we have greater.

He can do damage, but we can thwart his purposes.

2 Corinthians 10:4–5

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for PULLING DOWN strongholds, CASTING DOWN arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, BRINGING EVERY THOUGHT INTO CAPTIVITY to the obedience of Christ…”

That takes spiritually violent and aggressive action, and unless we do so, Satan wins.

So let’s all follow Mona Warner’s wisdom and get mad at the devil and take the action necessary to thwart his purposes.

The rest of the above verse:

John 10:10

“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

We are on the side of Jesus, projecting the life of Jesus Christ and showing, through our testimony, what the work of God in someone’s life looks like.

People can overcome, they can be victorious, Satan and sin can be defeated.

As we are witnessing the work of the devil all around us…let’s all conspire to do something about it…it’s time to get mad at the devil with a righteous anger and make a stand against his strategies…do so in prayer today, right now!
