Today’s Prayer: PRAYER IS A PIPELINE THAT FLOWS IN TWO DIRECTIONS. It flows from us toward God and it flows from God toward us. We have control of the valve that causes the flow to begin. When we humble ourselves, cry out to God in prayer every morning life begins to flow. Substance that is inside of us needs to get to God. Our love, worship and adoration for God must flow…praise flows after the valve is turned. Our dependence upon Him is declared, our confession of His Lordship over our lives flows and like water that flows through a plumbing system it refreshes God and He takes pleasure in our prayer. It can work the other way around. Sometimes God initiates the flow and turns the valve. At any given time during the day He speaks to us, wants our attention…has something He wants to achieve in us. [Proverbs 1:23] “Turn at my rebuke; Surely I WILL POUR OUT MY SPIRIT on you; I will make my words known to you”. Sometimes we have to stop whatever we’re doing, pause and give our attention to God and let Him speak to us. He’s turning on the valve and wants something to flow from Him to us. [Psalms 62:8] “Trust in Him at all times, you people; POUR OUT YOUR HEART BEFORE HIM; God is a refuge for us.” Like a plumbing system that is backed up with a lot of water pressure, when you turn on the valve…water gushes out. That’s the meaning of the verse…there should be a lot of spiritual water pressure built up waiting for the valve to be turned on. Sometimes what flows out of us is a cry for help. [Psalms [142:1-2] “I cry out to the LORD with my voice; With my voice to the LORD I make my supplication. I POUR OUT MY COMPLAINT (trouble) BEFORE HIM; I declare before Him my trouble.” That’s valid and something we often turn on the valve of prayer for. Keep the pipeline clear and open, free from debris…the pipeline can get neglected and fall in to disrepair, it can get clogged up and the flow can be interfered with…it’s your job and calling to keep it clear, open and flowing. It’s time to turn on the valve and keep it flowing between you and God.
