Today’s Prayer

April 5, 2024

Today’s Prayer: WE CAN INSPIRE GOD TO COME NEAR US. Isn’t that what we want? It should be. To know He is near. [Psalms 40:1] “I waited patiently for the LORD; And He INCLINED to me, And heard my cry.” That’s a picture of God leaning in…after we have His attention, to hear what we have to say in prayer. It’s the idea of stopping whatever you’re doing to listen to what someone is saying because it’s important and you want to understand every word. That’s what God does with us when we pray. We can have that affect on HIm. Here’s another way of seeing the impact of our prayer on God; [Psalms 70:1,5b] “Make haste, O God, to deliver me! Make haste to help me, O LORD!…Make haste to me, O God! You are my help and my deliverer; O LORD, do not delay”. ‘Make haste…do not delay?’ Can we really make such a request? Apparently we can. Just like a child whose in distress and our children need us now…we respond, so too does God. ‘Make haste…to deliver…to help…MAKE HASTE TO ME…’. That’s quite an opportunity we’re missing out on if we’re don’t take time to pray so that He can ‘incline to me’…and, ‘…make haste to me, O God!’. This never fails when we pray, this idea of God drawing near…that’s what you need at the beginning of the day. You need it for comfort, for confidence, for strength, for guidance and direction and for a sense of victory as we face the day with all of it’s challenges. [James 4:8a] “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you…” You take the first step in drawing near to God…then you get His attention and ‘HE WILL DRAW NEAR TO YOU…’. AMP: [James 4:8a] “Come close to God [with a contrite heart] and He will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; and purify your [unfaithful] hearts, you double-minded [people]”. It’s not automatic…you come close then He does. Don’t miss out on this incomprehensible opportunity. You need Him close, so do what’s necessary to make that happen today!
