There Is More — Part 3: The Experience of Heaven

There is more—so much more—for us to experience as a result of our life in Christ.

What will the experience of heaven actually be like?

We know about the streets of gold and many of the descriptions Scripture gives us, but what will it truly be like to be there? What will we experience throughout eternity?

Let's consider what God's Word reveals.

The experience of heaven will be one of overwhelming and everlasting gratitude.

That gratitude will never fade.

Never again will you struggle with being ungrateful.

There will never again be complaining about anything.

Imagine that!

Praise and thanksgiving will be a constant expression of our hearts, and we will forever be overwhelmed with gratitude to God.

Scripture Focus

Revelation 7:9, 12

"After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands..."

"...Saying: 'Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom, Thanksgiving and honor and power and might, Be to our God forever and ever. Amen.'"

Then there is another wonderful promise...

No more tears.

Never again—for all eternity—will there be sorrow or sadness.

"No more tears" means there will never again be grieving over anything.

Nothing will ever make you sad again.

Scripture Focus

Revelation 21:4

"And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away."

It is difficult to imagine life without these things because so much of our earthly experience has been marked by tears and pain.

But in heaven, they will be gone forever.

Heaven will also be a place of perfect love and perfect fellowship with everyone who is there.

Never again will you experience offense or betrayal.

You will never be angry with another person because there will never be a reason to be.

Only love.

Only goodwill.

Only perfect harmony.

There will not be the slightest trace of pride, insecurity, jealousy, discrimination, competition, vengeance, or prejudice.

Those things simply will not exist.

What an incredible future God has prepared for His people.

And there is still more to come.

Today's Challenge

Take a few moments today to meditate on the future God has promised His children.

Let the certainty of heaven shape the way you live today.

Choose faithfulness.

Choose love.

Choose kindness.

Choose service to God and to others.

Live each day with eternity in view, preparing your heart for the glorious future that awaits all who remain faithful to Christ.

(More to come in Part 4.)
