There Is More — Part 6: Live as an Overcomer

There is more—so much more—for us to experience as a result of our life in Christ.

If we are going to experience all that God has prepared for us, one characteristic must define our lives.

We must be overcomers.

Scripture Focus

Revelation 12:11

“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.”

This verse is speaking of the saints of God who make heaven their home.

Every follower of Jesus Christ is called to be an overcomer.

The word overcame means to conquer or to win the victory.

It describes believers standing as victors over every enemy.

That is what must define us because there are many battles to fight and many adversaries to overcome.

We must overcome our own flesh, which continually pulls us toward sin and disobedience.

We also face an enemy whose purpose Jesus clearly described.

Scripture Focus

John 10:10

“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

We have a Savior who comes to our aid and gives us the power to overcome.

But that power must be exercised.

We must fight—and fight diligently—to protect the future God has prepared for us.

Scripture Focus

Romans 8:37

“Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.”

That is true in potential, but it is not always true in practice.

I have known believers in Christ who ended up defeated.

Perhaps what awaited them was not real enough in their minds.

Perhaps they were unwilling to fight in order to protect the inheritance God had prepared for them.

Let us give careful thought to that today.

Live in what is truly in your own best interest.

Every one of us has something to overcome.

Every one of us has battles to fight.

So continue to overcome.

Keep conquering.

As you do, you are protecting the glorious future God has prepared for all who remain faithful to Him.

Today’s Challenge

Identify one area of your life where you need to overcome through the power of Christ.

Stand firmly on His promises.

Rely on His strength rather than your own.

Remember that every victory over sin, temptation, and discouragement is part of protecting the eternal inheritance God has prepared for you.

Live each day as an overcomer, knowing that Christ has already made victory possible through His blood and His power.
