There Is More — Part 7: Choose Eternity with Christ

The previous six Views From Above have focused on the glorious hope of heaven and the eternal future God has prepared for His people.

As difficult as it may be, there is another reality that is worth considering.

What will hell be like to experience?

The experience of hell is the complete opposite of everything Scripture tells us about heaven.

There will never again be gratitude.

Thanksgiving will forever be absent because there will never be anything for which to be thankful.

Instead, regret, bitterness, and anger will define the experience of eternity apart from God.

Nothing will ever bring lasting satisfaction.

Only endless frustration.

There is no love in hell.

You will never again experience love, nor will you ever again be loved.

Love will be completely absent because the presence of God is absent.

You did not desire His presence in this life, and therefore you will not experience it throughout eternity.

Every good and perfect gift flows from God.

Goodness, kindness, mercy, and love are all expressions of His presence toward those who receive Him.

Perhaps the greatest sorrow of all will be eternal regret.

The opportunity to know God, to love Him, to pursue righteousness, and to live in obedience will have passed forever.

Every person must make that choice while there is still time.

Scripture Focus

Revelation 21:7–8

“He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God, and he shall be My son. But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”

The call of Scripture is clear.

Pay the price in this life to serve God with all your heart rather than jeopardizing eternity through sinful living.

Every one of us is called to overcome.

We must overcome our own flesh.

We must overcome sinful desires and temptations.

With the help of the Holy Spirit, we are to become more and more like Christ.

The alternative is a future of eternal separation from God.

Take time today to consider the direction of your eternity.

Great reward awaits those who faithfully follow Christ.

Eternal separation awaits those who continually reject Him.

God is not looking for religion.

He is not looking for self-righteousness.

He is inviting you into a relationship with Him because of His great love for you.

That relationship begins in this life and continues throughout eternity, growing richer and more glorious forever.

Today’s Challenge

Examine your relationship with Jesus Christ today.

If you know Him, continue to pursue Him with your whole heart and live as an overcomer.

If there is an area of disobedience that needs to be surrendered, do not delay.

Choose Christ.

Choose obedience.

Choose the eternal hope He offers.

The greatest decision you will ever make is the one that determines where—and with whom—you will spend eternity.
